Lorenc Antoni (1909-1991) - postage stamp launches

100th anniversary of the birth of Lorenc Antoni was marked on 23 September 2009. He was a composer, conductor and ethnomusicologist, and is well-known throughout the Albanian lands.
Lorenc Antoni is the founder of the first school of music in 1948 in Prizren. He has collected and published seven volumes of the Albanian folk music associated with the ethnomusicology analysis, and is considered the composer of first generation in Kosovo, whose works are generally based on the Albanian folk music idiom.

We may freely consider that Lorenc Antoni has throughout his activity in various fields of music given invaluable support to the Albanian culture in general and especially in Kosovo.
On this occasion, Post of Kosovo Philately of PTK JSC has marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of our renowned author by launching the postage stamp and the first day cover, which depict the image of composer Lorenc Antoni.
