ORDINARY PARCEL

Ordinary Parcels are packages for which the sender does not require any special service. For these parcels the maximum declared value is one hundred euros (100 €).
Each parcel must be wrapped and sealed in such a way as to suit the weight, shape and nature of the contents as well as the mode of transport. Wrapping and sealing should protect the content against oppression and damage from repeated touching and shall be so done that it cannot be handled or tampered with without showing signs of thereof.
It must be wrapped and sealed in such a way as not to endanger the health of the employees and to avoid any damage if they contain items that may injure the employees in charge of their processing, contaminate, or damage other parcels or postal equipment.

DECLARED VALUE PARCEL

Declared value parcel – are all mail parcel items that require from the sender to declare its value in accordance with the origin of the items or goods contained in the parcel.
The packing and proper closure of the parcels with declared value is done in accordance with the standards set for packing of parcels with declared value, referring to the content, weight, form, and mode of transport. The sender is obliged to indicate in the lower left corner the exact value stated in numbers and letters. Parcels with declared value must not contain prohibited items that endanger the transport process such as firearms, radioactive substances, fuels, narcotic or biological substances, etc.

EXPRESS PARCEL

The Express service can be used on any type of parcel providing them with an advantage over ordinary parcel delivery.
All parcel post items using the ‘Express’ service should be affixed with a light red label where the word ‘Express’ is clearly marked.

PARCELS WITH ADVICE OF DELIVERY A.R.

Parcels for which the sender requests an advice of delivery shall bear at the address side very conspicuously either the indication A.R. (from French Avis de reception; LM for domestic mail) or the stamp impression.
The aforementioned parcels should be accompanied by a form (P3 for domestic mail or CN 07 for international mail).

CUMBERSOME PARCELS. FRAGILE PARCELS

CUMBERSOME PARCEL

In domestic postal traffic cumbersome parcel is considered:

  • any dimension that exceeds 50cm;
  • any of the two dimensions taken separately exceed 30cm;
  • due to particular form it cannot be folded with other packages;
  • if it weighs more than 10 kg.

Every cumbersome parcel and the front page of the dispatch letter will contain a label in bold indicating the word “Encombrant” (Cumbersome).

Administrations that accept the dimension limits given above may charge as cumbersome any parcel whose dimensions exceed the above limits, but its weight is less than 10 kilograms. In this case, on the delivery card only the note “Encombrant” shall bear very conspicuously on the front the indication “en vertu de l’article RE 206.1.5” (pursuant to Letter Post Regulation Article RE 206.1.5).

The maximum amount of the supplementary charge referred to in article 23.3. of the Convention is at most 50% percent of the main charge.

In international postal traffic cumbersome parcel is considered:

  • Every cumbersome parcel if any of its longest dimensions exceeds 1.5m, of all the dimensions provided in total up to 3m;
  • if due to its special form it cannot be folded with other packages;
  • if it weighs more than 10 kg.

Every cumbersome parcel and the front page of the dispatch letter will contain a label in bold indicating the word “Encombrant” (Cumbersome).

 

FRAGILE PARCELS

Without prejudice to compliance with the general rules regarding make-up and packing, every fragile parcel shall be provided, either by the sender or by the office of origin, with a label featuring a picture of a glass printed in red on a white background.

The relative dispatch note shall bear very conspicuously on the front the indication Colis fragile (Fragile Parcel), either in manuscript or printed on a label.

Every parcel, the fragile nature of whose contents is indicated by any external sign whatever affixed by the sender, shall be provided by the office of origin with the label described above. The corresponding supplementary charge shall be collected. If the sender does not wish the parcel to be treated as fragile, the office of origin shall cross out the marking made by the sender. The maximum amount of the supplementary charge referred to in article 23.3. of the Convention is at most 50% percent of the main charge.

DIMENSIONS AND WEIGHT OF CUMBERSOME PARCEL

Common dimensions of cumbersome parcel such as length + width + height is not to be greater than > 3m where none of the dimensions can be greater than 1.5m.

Parcels shall not exceed 3 meters for any one dimension or 1.5 meters for the sum of the length and the greatest circumference measured in a direction other than that of the length (Parcel Post Manual, Article RE 105).

Cumbersome parcel shall be accepted by weight up to 20 kg in accordance with universal postal services unless otherwise specified by agreement.
